Juvéderm® Filler

Juvéderm® is a dermal filler designed to restore volume to your skin. We use it to correct nasolabial folds and other age-related imperfections. Dr. Michael J. Will can use Juvederm to give your face a more youthful appearance.

Juvéderm is composed of hyaluronic acid, a naturally-occurring chemical found in the body’s connective tissue. As you age, this hyaluronic acid becomes depleted, leading to many of the signs of skin aging. By restoring hyaluronic acid, your face and skin can appear younger.

What can Juvéderm treat?

Juvéderm can be injected into many areas of your face. Juvéderm is FDA approved for treating facial wrinkles and folds. Such products are used by cosmetic surgeons for:

  • Lip enhancement
  • Correction of marionette lines
  • Correction of tear trough deformity
  • Restoring facial volume for sunken cheeks or acne scars
  • Correction of glabellar furrows or forehead creases

Juvéderm won’t cause changes in your skin’s pigmentation. Men and women of all ethnicities can choose Juvéderm.

Available Juvéderm Products at Will Surgical Arts

JUVÉDERM XC

The original Juvéderm XC has become one of the most popular dermal fillers available today. This hyaluronic acid-based facial filler is most effective for smoothing visible lines and wrinkles of the face, such as moderate to severe parentheses lines (nasolabial folds) and marionette lines around the nose and mouth. With optimal treatment by a board certified physician such as Dr. Will, Juvéderm is proven to provide patients with results lasting for up to a full year.

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC

Voluma is the first and only dermal filler approved for the restoration of volume in the cheeks. Like the traditional Juvéderm filler, Voluma is made from hyaluronic acid—the naturally-occurring substance found in skin.

As you grow older, certain areas of your face can become lax and hollow or gaunt due to a loss of elastin, collagen, and hyaluronic acid. Voluma helps to improve these signs of aging, restoring fullness and a youthful shape to the cheeks and around the chin. Dr. Will’s Voluma patients often experience a subtle lifting effect from their treatment as well. Your results can last for up to two full years with optimal treatment. Voluma can be combined with other fillers like Juvéderm to help achieve a fuller rejuvenation of your appearance.

JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC

If your lips are your biggest concern, then Juvéderm’s Volbella filler may be the choice for you. A recent addition to the Juvéderm family, Volbella uses a thinner hyaluronic acid gel to effectively add natural-looking shape and volume to the lips. Not only can Volbella help achieve a plumper pout, but it can also be used to erase the appearance of vertical lip lines. Volbella is designed to provide patients with results lasting for up to a full year when performed by a trained cosmetic surgeon such as Dr. Will.

JUVÉDERM VOLLURE™ XC

Vollure is the newest member of Juvéderm’s hyaluronic acid filler family. Formulated using Juvéderm’s proprietary VYCROSS® technology and a careful balance of hyaluronic acid gel firmness and cohesivity, Vollure is designed to replenish facial volume for long-lasting treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. This filler is designed to provide results for up to eighteen full months with optimal treatment.

JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC and Ultra Plus XC

Ultra and Ultra Plus are two other popular hyaluronic acid fillers in the Juvéderm family. Ultra uses a thinner, less viscous gel, making it a great option for treating fine lines and wrinkles or scars, and enhancing lip volume. Ultra Plus uses a thicker hyaluronic acid gel, making it great for sculpting the natural contours of the face.

How Is a Juvéderm treatment in Maryland performed?

Before you get Juvéderm injections, you will meet with Dr. Will to discuss your goals for treatment. You won’t need an allergy test prior to treatment because the gel is made with ingredients that are compatible with your body.

When it is time for your treatment, Juvéderm is injected into specific areas of the face in a short outpatient procedure. The injections only take about 15 minutes. Juvéderm XC is formulated with lidocaine, which is a numbing agent. This makes the injections more comfortable and eliminates the need for a topical numbing cream. After your injections, the area may be briefly massaged to promote a smooth result.

After Your Treatment with Juvéderm in Maryland

You will see the results of your treatment immediately. Juvéderm treatment is long-lasting, but not permanent. Eventually, your body will absorb the hyaluronic acid in the gel. You should see the results of Juvéderm for up to one year following your treatment.

The Juvéderm injections may cause bruising, or a mild swelling in the treated area. This can cause your lips or face to look a bit fuller than expected. This swelling improves rapidly, and you will see the true results of your treatment. You can ice the treated area during the 24 hours after your treatment in order to reduce swelling.

You should avoid alcohol, strenuous exercise, and prolonged exposure to sunlight for 24 hours after treatment. After this, you’re free to return to your normal routine and enjoy the results of your treatment.

Juvéderm injectable gel provides a long-lasting correction to many of the small signs of facial aging.
