A Closer Look at the Endoscopic Brow Lift

Over the years, the aging process and other forces like gravity can cause forehead skin to become lax and droop over the eyes. This loss of elasticity may lead to a tired or angry look that zaps away your youthful appearance. However, an endoscopic brow lift can restore vitality and youthfulness to the face. Sometimes described as an upper facelift, this procedure can relieve a furrowed, aged forehead by raising the brows and opening the eyes. As opposed to a traditional open lift, the endoscopic method is less invasive and provides patients with less downtime and discomfort.

What is an Endoscope?

The endoscopic brow lift method uses a small, pencil-like camera called an endoscope that’s connected to a monitor. This special camera is inserted into several small incisions placed just behind the hairline, giving Dr. Will a clear view of the tissues and muscles underneath the skin. He then inserts another instrument through one of the small incisions in order to strategically lift the brow, making it a much less invasive procedure than the classic open brow lift which requires one long incision across the forehead.

Is a Brow Lift or Eyelid Surgery Right for Me?

If you are suffering from a constantly tired, concerned, or angry appearance it can be difficult to know which cosmetic approach for rejuvenating your upper face is right for you. Should you opt for a brow lift or will eyelid surgery be more appropriate? Typically, the brow lift targets the forehead above the eyebrows, lifting and tightening the skin and muscles while smoothing out wrinkles and fine lines. On the other hand, eyelid surgery focuses on the eyelids themselves and the orbital region surrounding the eyes. This surgery can address excess skin on the lids and puffiness below the eyes.

Of course, the only way to truly know which method will give you the results you’re looking for is during your personal consultation with Dr. Will. He will carefully analyze your upper facial area and how it relates to the surrounding anatomy and then recommend a personalized approach tailored to your specific needs and goals.

What About Botox®?

Another aspect of brow and forehead rejuvenation to consider is Botox. This minimally invasive treatment can work wonders to diminish the signs of aging in the forehead area without surgery. If you feel like you’re not ready to go under the knife yet, Botox may be an excellent option to maintaining your youthful appearance. However, it is limited in what it can do; while Botox can address moderate to severe wrinkles and lines, it will have no effect on a sagging brow or loose forehead skin. Instead, this injectable only targets the underlying muscles, reducing their activity in order to smooth and soften the appearance of wrinkles.
